Project overview: 

Our project was focused on a 9-day training course including travel days on
the refugee crisis, as it is recorded mainly within the European Union
countries during the last years. This TC gave the opportunity to 27
people from 8 different European countries to be educated, share their
knowledge and elaborate on a topic which is extremely crucial
nowadays and which is the refugee crisis. With regard to the
participants: Cross-cultural intercultural awareness through reflection
on their own culture and the values and norms of other cultures.
Dealing with culturally significant communication styles and obtaining
intercultural communication competence. Awareness of one’s own
dealing with conflicts, for culturally influenced conflict styles, and the
development and practice of concrete action strategies for handling
intercultural conflicts.

Project Objectives:

– Increase the empathy of the participants towards the refugee
issue and populations;
– Explore the dimensions of the refugee crisis, within the framework of
human rights and legal recognition ;
– Work on ideas for local and international volunteering and
educational initiatives to tackle the refugee crisis;
– Give participants the space to share good practices and personal
experiences;
-Raise awareness on the cultural differences between different
European countries;
-Acknowledge Erasmus Plus Program as a tool for intercultural
learning;
-Develop an informal network of youth workers and youth
organisations tackling to the refugee crises and promoting follow up
projects and initiatives.
